莱尔·巴克曼，生于1944年，27岁时获得印第安纳大学文学博士学位，论文研究方向为二语习得。他曾在夏威夷大学、伊利诺伊大学香槟分校、加州大学洛杉矶分校等大学任教。Bachman教授曾担任美国应用语言学会（AAAL）以及靠前语言测试协会（ILTA）会长。在靠前语言测试界乃至整个应用语言学领域享有极高声望。2004年，靠前语言测试协会授予他终身成就奖。

艾德里安·帕尔默，生于1940年，31岁获密歇根大学语言学博士学位，任犹他大学副教授。Palmer有相当丰富的教学经历和极高的语言天赋，能熟练使用波斯语、法语、德语，通晓泰语和西班牙语。
